Ukrainian designer Ivan Voitovich recently designed a modern table for the WOO brand.
The company’s product line is inspired by minimalism and aesthetics, so all products are clean, simple and with pure.
«When we were designing our drone, we dove into finding new lines, components and approaches. So we came up with a new interesting solution of the table legs. As for the construction: the leg is a curved T-beam that attaches to the main base under the table top. On the one hand, it seems to us that the table stands on thin plates, and on the other – its image is smooth and solid.»

The base of the table is like a drone that is about to take off. Feet like curved girder that give lightness. The curved and smooth contours of the tabletop emphasize its sophisticated image. The elements of confidence, delicacy and weightlessness are the basic idea behind the creation of a Drone table.
Interview with the designer
1. What prompted you to develop the DRONE TABLE? Who or what were the inspiration?
“I would not say that at first I was inspired by something. Initially, the task was to come up with a modular table, which had to be technological. An image that will inspire.
As a result of many sketches and reflections – the idea came up to create legs that will be made of thin plates. This added lightness to the table. It was possible to realize the conceived using a hidden back rib, which serves as a place of attachment for the supporting beam. And so the idea of a DRON table was born. The tabletop also has a complex shape. I wanted to create something fresher and newer than all Ukrainian products. The name Drone came at the very end when we were doing a photo shoot and shooting videos on the drone, and here we came up with the idea that the table was like a DRON. ”
2. How much time was spent on the project? How long did it take to develop the concept?
“We were in no hurry. In general, we spent about 5 months discussing and drawing. The prototype was made in six weeks. Generally, such a subject can be developed in about 2-3 months, but since we worked very well at the concept and drawings, we immediately made a prototype that looked like the final product.”
4. What do you think which group of people DRONE TABLE is for? On your Facebook page you wrote that quite often designers forget that they make the product primarily for humans. Did you manage to fit into these requirements and design a table for a certain group of people like you originally planned?
«The main thing in creating products is to satisfy the end consumer, while giving him new emotions. As experience shows, we think little about the guy, girl, or young couple who will use your creation every day. And that’s not right! These people are your main customers.»

“I didn’t make a table for a “certain group of people”. It is a mass product and it is designed for use by any person. We took into account all ergonomic standards. The table is very comfortable. As for style, it is suitable for all modern interiors. It will also look organic with expensive European brands. I had the idea that the DRONE TABLE would become a place where everyone will be gathering around. In every house – a kitchen table – it’s like a place of power!!!)))”
5. What colors do you like in interiors?
“Color is not important. I like all the colors if they are in the theme! I do not like bright colors if it is a product of constant use. I divide all the items on some scale, where the products are located depending on how often a person encounters them by touch or look. The more often this touch happens, the easier the subject should be and with any bright accents. Take the iPhone for example, its design is one of the cleanest and invisible. They do not make red stripes on it, any speeches or accents. And all because of the fact that the subject should not cause boredom. He must serve his calling and not prevent a person from living comfortably.”
6. Which direction in interior design is the closest to you? What collections do you admire? And what will be your next project?
“There is no such direction that I like more or less. A designer is a creature who wants to change everything that surrounds him. I like to do what few people have done before this day, because of that I work more in product design. Here I can create items, gadgets from scratch. I can also improve products, make them easier to use. Furniture design is usually a process of changing places between pawns. Simply a marketing for companies. Few people in the design of furniture create something new.
I have not been following the works of furniture designers lately, but I track the industrial design studios. For example Layer design, BKID, BDCI … I meet many works of students of design universities. They often experiment and something interesting comes out of it.
If speaking of WOO, we are now designing a chair. The idea is to create a kitchen chair, which will be more convenient than other chairs.”
“I am sure that design can inspire and teach!
It can give new knowledge, experience and emotions.
It is through the prism of this understanding that I create a product design, a story.”
