Ukraine: Affair with Earth
In 2019, Art-East + Art-West and Prostir86 will present project “Ukraine: Affair with Earth” at Dutch Design Week Eindhoven.
The project participants are not only artists but also scientists. Before submitting their work to the rather complicated, but equally interesting “Ukraine: Affair with Earth”, they had to conduct a series of experiments that led to the expected end result. They reflect and work on the most important problems that exist in the world today. First of all, this is the current state of ecology. Production of paper from fallen leaves, creation of fur from roots, implementation of the idea of production of fur from hemp, unexpected possibilities of using black soil, as well as prospects of cultivation and further use of cereals in the Chernobyl radioactive zone – all these studies are based on traditional Ukrainian culture and preserved traditions of coexistence with nature.
Among the participants, we present a biologist, an entrepreneur, a designer, and a scientist
Spatial scenography plays an important role in the project. The concept was developed by the PROSO studio in the format of a laboratory. The presented works are exhibited on surfaces completely covered with living green ecosystem. Visitors have the opportunity to observe how trace elements develop and change. By the end of the project, the grown roots will be used in the production of eco-friendly fur and various experiments.
This year the project “Ukraine: Affair with Earth” impressed with its relevance. People understand that it is necessary to respect the Earth and protect its resources. Now that environmental problems are emerging, the world is in need of new ideas, fresh perspectives and a change in habitual lifestyle, priorities and concepts. Conscious people come to the Dutch Design Week Eindhoven 2019, where you can see many new thoughts and views. Thanks to an open laboratory, our stands attract attention at a glance, anyone can experiment and get an interesting result. The world is changing, and so are humans. Therefore, “Ukraine: Affair with Earth” is a significant contribution to the future of our Earth.
